Here in the U.S. they pronounce buoy like “bewy” (like the word “dewy”) … I grew up in Canada so pronounced it like “boy” like you do, so when I throw the phrase “where the buoys are” into a blog post, (a phrase which was a movie title and famous song by Connie Francis), the Americans don’t get that little joke.
