A once grand Hastings Crescent.

While parked in Hastings (at a seafront car park eating the great British favourite of Fish & Chips). I spotted this seafront building. It is called Pelham Crescent in the centre of the Crescent is a Church built in the Neo-Classical style. It was converted into an arts centre in 1998.

The Church and Cresent are above Pelham Arcade, the commercial properties go under the hill up to the church with a glass sunlight as their centrepiece. The large Georgian Houses appear to be currently split into bedsits but it looks like the whole Crescent is currently undergoing restoration work.

Hastings is the home of the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, by contrast with the small fleet I saw yesterday at Dungeness this fleet from the Stade as it is known has more than 25 boats which can be seen  when they are not at sea.

The fishermen launch and recover their boats with winches and bull-dozers. They also manage the single on the beach to ensure the tradition can continue at Hastings.
